The slam of the door was still ringing in her ears. Even with the constant buzz of the itty-bitty town and the rhythmic tap, tap of her boots on the sidewalk. Vienna's brow was slashed with an intense frown. Huzzah for being here only four freakin' days and you're already butting heads with your mother. Their bitter conversation still haunted her.
"I got a letter from Mackenzie! She says she misses me already and can't wait for us to come back for the holidays."
"Who says we're going back to New York for the holidays?" her mother had snarled.
Vienna was taken aback.
"I sorta assumed we would because all of our relatives live in New York, except for Nana, who lives here..."
"You're always assuming things, Vienna.. Why can't for one time you not think of yourself and just think about the family, okay? We just moved here and I am not paying for a trip and a hotel in New York City..."
Vienna halted.
"Doesn't mean I can hope to see my best friend that I've known since we were babies again some day soon." her words were laced with complete malice.
With that, she had turned on a heel, grabbed her favorite boots and left, ripping the door closed behind her, slamming as hard as possible.
She walked for ages before she saw something that mildly interested her: A mini mall. Good lord... She pursed her lips. New York always had things to do.. There were only so many times you could go to a mini mall or see a movie. She continued walking, sliding her hands into her jeans pockets.
WHUBAM.
"FUCK!"The expletive spilled from between Vienna's lips as she stepped on uneven pavement and tripped, smashing her face into the sidewalk. She rolled over onto her back and sat up, clutching her hands to her face. Her hands had done a shit-ton of good in breaking her fall.. She still mashed her nose and cheekbone into the concrete. She sat there, spewing curses, pushing purple and teal hair out of the way and cradling her burning face in her hands, half terrified to pull them away. <3Vienna |
