[Rachel Berry]

I sat in the chairs of the auditorium thinking some things over. My life had changed so much from the time that I first started in New Directions till now. I was still somewhat socially awkward, but being around the rest of the team taught me to be more open to making friends - less worried about what everyone thought of me. Though, don't get me wrong, I still was definitely self conscious about that. And then there was the whole Finn/Quinn/Puck drama... Though for the most part that seemed to be over. Quinn had her baby and gave it up, Puck was...still being Puck, and Finn...Finn told me he loved me at regionals.

I smiled and shook my head slightly at that memory. I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about it - I knew I felt quite strongly for him, but love was still a big step for me. But it was nice, in a way, to be loved. I had always dreamed about it (which girl hasn't?), but to have it happen to me was a different experience. And it was really nice to have him in my life after the drama with my mom happened. In a weird way though, I can't help but wonder what it would've been like...to have her in my life for longer than it was.

Pushing the thought aside before it started to make me cry, I stared up at the stage. We had lost at regionals - something that should've closed down New Directions for good, but instead we had a whole year to prove ourselves as a team again. I pictured myself on stage once more, performing in front of a bigger audience and a smile curved my lip. Man, it was good to have another year.

RIIIIIIING!

The final bell of the day sounded, allowing me to let out a huge sigh of relief. I was so ready to do something fun. School was nice and all once you took out the learning part, but there were way too many classes between socializing. I'd had a math test earlier I was positive I failed, and my English class was getting tougher with each passing day. Oh well, at least I was done for the day.

Heading out to the hallway I stopped at mys locker and dumped my books inside, grabbing my red backpack and slinging it over my shoulder. I didn't have football practice or glee today, but me and Rachel had agreed to meet in the auditorium for extra rehearsal. We are the co-captains after all. Plus, we have a duet to work on. I love it when it's just us. Sure, things were still kind of awkward, but every time Rachel was around I was happy.

Pushing open the aduitorium doors I found Rachel sitting in the first row of chairs facing the stage.

"Hey Rach!" I couldn't keep the smile off my face as I said it. Dropping my bag down on the chair next to her I leaned in to give her a massive hug. I couldn't help it, I was happy to see her.

"Hey Rach!" I heard Finn's voice just as he sat down next to me and wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug. With a big smile on my lips, I leaned forward to press my face into his neck and returned the hug. "Hey sweetie." The word was foreign on my lips, but somehow fitting. Pulling back from his embrace slightly, I turned to look up at his face. He was quite a bit taller than me, and even while sitting down, I had to crane my neck to look at him fully. "How were your classes?" I didn't get much of a chance to see Finn outside of Glee practices and the ones that we had on our own, so it was only natural that I was curious about how his day went.

Regretfully pulling out of Finn's embrace, I pulled my bag from the floor beside me to sit in my lap. The duet that we were going to work on was sitting comfortably in my lap, just waiting to be sung. The auditorium was quiet as it was the days when Glee club didn't have practices, but it was nice. Finn and I were the only ones in here, and as much as I loved being around the other members of the club, I loved the times when it was just us.

Subconsciously I started twirling a strand of my hair around my finger - something that I seemed to have picked up from Brittany - while I waited on Finn's reply.

"Hey sweetie." Well, that was different. Rachel had never called me anything but my name before. Well, sometimes she called me other stuff but it was usually something silly. This was more...flirty. I kind of liked it. Kind of meaning a lot. The smile on her face lit up my world; when Rachel was happy everything about life was good. And when Rachel wasn't happy.... well, life pretty much sucked. That's why losing Regionals was so hard. I mean, sure, what we thought was the end of Glee sucked ass, but seeing how upset Rachel had been nearly killed me inside. When Mr. Schue announced that we had another year the light in her eyes made everything in the world better.

Jesus, I sounded like a pansy.

I snapped my focus back to what she was saying just in time to catch her question.

"How were your classes?"

I shrugged. "The same as always. Boring and lame. I'm really glad to be done for the day. This is much more fun." I really wanted to lean in and kiss her, you have no idea how badly I wanted to. But I didn't want to freak her out, so instead I settled for just pecking her on the cheek.

"The same as always. Boring and lame." Was Finn's reply right before he leaned down and kissed me on the cheek. He hadn't done anything more than that lately. Though we were moving slow with this...relationship, it was at a comfortable pace. Sure, I had kissed guys before, but the last one I had was Jesse. And after that relationship turned out to be pretty much a disaster - sure, there were some good aspects to our relationship, finding out who my mother is was the biggest, but his betrayal to me and New Directions when he went back to Vocal Adrenaline hurt more than I care to share. Finn seemed to know that, and didn't push me with more that I was comfortable doing.

I'm really glad to be done for the day. This is much more fun." I couldn't help but smile at this comment. "Miss me, did you?" I looked up at him slightly, hopefully I didn't look like a moron right now. Internally I couldn't help but shake my head at myself. What was I doing? Being flirty with Finn? It wasn't a bad thing, necessarily, it just wasn't...me. But at the same time, it didn't feel weird, just different.

Looking down at my hands, I could see a corner of the sheet music poking out of my bag. We should probably start rehearsing soon, but I couldn't make myself get up quite yet. I was too comfortable just spending some time with Finn.

"Miss me, did you?" she looked up at me, something that was common even when we were sitting down due to me being a giant and her being so tiny. But I actually liked the height difference sometimes. It was like I was her knight in shining armor or something and I could protect her. Plus, the way her little body somehow managed to fit perfectly against my big frame when we danced or hugged and stuff was a total turn on.

"I totally missed you." I smiled back at her and took her hands in mine, marveling at how small and smooth they were. I linked our fingers together and rubbed my tumbs over her hands. "You're the best part of my day Rach."

I had to say I liked that I have to look up at Finn, even when we're sitting down. It makes me feel delicate. I think it was something he liked too, though he hadn't said anything about it.

"You're the best part of my day Rach." I couldn't help but lean up and kiss his cheek at the sweet comment, making sure to keep our fingers locked together. Finn really was always very sweet to me, and it was nice to hear those comments every now and then. "And you're my favorite part of my day, Finn." It was true; even above how much I loved Glee club practices.

With a small sigh, I pushed myself out of the seat and turned to face him. "Ready to start practicing?" I gave him a smile and tugged on his hand with a gentle pull, a gentle urging for him to get up and join me.

Have I mentioned how much I love extra practices with Rachel? When it's just the two of us it seems like we're the only people in the world, and that's totally cool with me. When she kissed me on the cheek I couldn't help but grin. See, this is why it's good that we practice alone too. If we acted like this in front of the other Gleeks we'd both be made fun of, which was never good. At least in Glee it was all in fun, beyond the choir room it got ugly. I made myself a promise a while ago to never let anyone get the chance to make Rachel feel bad ever again if I could help it.

"And you're my favorite part of my day, Finn."

I smiled. "Really? Sweet!" I knew that was a big deal, especially if she meant that I came before Glee and her schoolwork. That was huge, especially coming from Rachel Berry!

I felt a tug at my arm as she tried to pull me from the chair. Standing up I allowed her to lead me onto the stage. I was up for whatever she wanted as long as she didn't let go of my hand.

"Ready to start practicing?"

I nodded. The song we were singing was kind of cheesy, but I liked it. "Hell yeah! Let's do this."

Really? Sweet! he gave me a smile that started to make me melt a bit against him. Saying that was a big step for me, and I knew that he knew that about me.

"Hell yeah! Let's do this!" his excited response made me grin as I pulled him up to the center of the stage. The song was Finn's idea - a bit of a cheesy one, but fun and one of my favorites none the less. Looking around the stage, I didn't see our piano man that always seemed to be around anywhere. "I guess we'll just have to do this one a Capella." I said with a smile. Sure, music was definitely always fun to have, but there was just something about a Capella singing that always did it for me too.

There was something really nice about just practicing with Finn and not the rest of the Glee club. As much as it was nice and fun with the rest of the group, but when it was just us, we had more freedom to do what we wanted...and not to mention that we could act more couple-y without getting teased about it from the rest of the group.

Looking up at him, I waited to hear him start singing and my cue to jump in to the song with him. Pulling out the lyrics from my bag without letting go of his hand, I looked them over with a smile. In a way, the worlds almost applied to how my life had changed since Finn came into my life. Before we knew each other, I only thought about winning, doing well in school, and becoming a professional singer. Now, I had opened up to more ideas and things. Most of it was thanks to him, with the help of Glee club. That was something I'd never forget.

I glanced around the auditorium and frowned. The jazz band that normally backed us up wasn't here. Not that I expected them to be, but Brad the piano guy wasn't here either. That was weird, Brad was always around. He never talked though, which was kind of strange. He was just always... there. In fact, I don't think anybody even knows what else he does except play the piano. Huh. Oh well. Like Rachel said, we could just sing a Capella which I knew by now meant without music. (I never understood that- why do they need all those fancy words? Just say no music!)

I noticed that even as she moved around the stage to get the lyrics she made sure not to let go of my hand, which made me smile. Maybe if I was lucky she'd agree to hang out after we got done practicing. I was getting hungry so maybe we could get something to eat. I'd ask her after we sang the song though.

I took one of the pages of lyrics that she offered me with my empty hand and looked down at the sheet for a minute, getting the beat of the song into my head before starting to sing the first verse.

Clearing my throat slightly, I waited for my cue to jump in. Finn let the last word of his part of the song linger in the air slightly, and I knew it was my turn.

My voice echoed in the empty auditorium, echoing back to me slightly, though not in a way that would make me mess up the song. More in a way that would sound like there was someone backing my vocals with their own.

Even though I was concentrating with most of my mind on the song and making sure to hit all the right notes, I couldn't help but watch Finn from underneath my eyelashes. He had grown much more confident in his singing than he was when he first joined the Glee club. Then he was awkward and unsure of himself. Now...well, now he was still slightly awkward and unsure, but he was less of a doormat personality that he used to be. I smiled at him slightly as I finished my set of the lyrics, patiently waiting for his next move.

Singing with Rachel was the most amazing feeling in the world. Her voice was the best I'd ever heard in my life and she literally took my breath away sometimes. She was so passionate about what she sang, meaning every word that came out of her mouth and she had the ability to make you believe whatever she sang. If she sang something sad by the end of the song you could seriously feel her pain. Or if she sang something happy by the end of the song you're grinning and excited too. She was amazing and she made my world spin, in the good way I mean.

I looked out at the empty auditorium and imagined a full crowd of people cheering us on. Pulling Rachel close I looked straight in to her eyes as we sang the last chorus together.

She was so beautiful and so perfect... I couldn't wait another minute. I had to kiss her. So I did. I leaned in and pressed my lips to hers, hoping she felt the passion and fire that I did.

Kissing Rachel Berry was nothing short of amazing. It was like an electric shock was sent straight to my heart and everything else in the world just didn't exist. After a minute I felt her arms clasp around my neck, pulling me closer. I couldn't help but smile against her lips. She was clearly not objecting to this and that in itself made me happy. Helping her out I leaned down and scooped her up into my arms, lifting her into the air with ease so we were at the same height. She really didn't weight anything, not that it came as a surprise. Having been Rachel's dance partner for nearly a year, doing lifts and dips and all that other stuff, I'd learned the basics of her physical form and the girl was light as a feather.

"You're amazing." I said breathlessly after pulling apart a few minutes later. I was sick of beating around the bush. Screw being subtle, screw what everyone else thought. I just wanted her. "Rach, will you like, I mean, uh, I think we should be-" Damn it, I hated my stupid brain and inability to speak. Just spit it out Hudson! Be a man! "Do you wanna be together? Like, for real? Official and stuff?" I smiled inwardly at myself. There, I'd said it. Now all I had to do was wait for her to answer.
